In Washington, DC, political discussions permeate the entire city during the closely-watched election season. And with our map-based search, we have the unique ability to cover the elections and provide our users with unique information about the relationship between politics and the housing market.

We mapped the 435 congressional districts and clearly designated them by party affiliation; as you zoom in, you'll see that districts represented by Republicans have red labels, and Democratic districts have blue labels.

Users can learn a lot from these outlined congressional districts, as they give a quick reference to the political landscape across the country. Users can see where the respective Democratic and Republic strongholds are and better understand the political environment.

However, we do not stop there, as we also give our users an interesting way to view the election via our political heat maps. These heat maps demonstrate the relationship between district affiliation and various housing indicators.

Congressional Heat Maps

To better visualize the election, we have created Congressional Heat Maps that show data corresponding to red (Republican) and blue (Democratic) congressional districts.

Party Affiliation Heat Maps

First, we have outlined all congressional districts in the United States and color coded them according to their party affiliation. You can also click on the district label to learn more information about the congressional district like the Congressman and zip codes, as well as quick facts like the population, median household income, and Cook Partisan Voting Index rating.

Political Foreclosure Heat Maps

The Political Foreclosure Heat Maps show foreclosure rates by congressional district to allow users to visualize which districts were hit hardest and see their political affiliation.

Political Rent Ratio Heat Maps

The Rent Ratio Heat Maps highlight the areas where it makes more sense to rent and where it makes more sense to buy, calculated by dividing an area's median house price by annual rent. With our Political Rent Ratio Heat Maps, we take it a step further to show you the rent ratios by congressional district to see if there is a correlation between high rent ratios and political affiliation.
